The beginning of St Paul Methodist Church traces back to 1883 when our first church services were held in a small log schoolhouse in town. Then in 1889, the first church building was built and the second renovation was done in 1889 under the name of The First Evangelical Church. In 1913 church fire broke out and destroyed the building. On that same year September 14th, 1913, the new church was erected and was dedicated again. On May 11th, 1958, the church made an additional building of 5,000 feet of floor space to a new educational and fellowship hall under the name of St Paul Evangelical United Brethren Church.
In 1969, Elkton Evangelical United Brethren Church, Elkton Methodist Episcopal Church, and Grant Methodist Episcopal Church merged together to form a new Elkton United Methodist Church. On October 16th, 2022, the church voted to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church Michigan Conference to join the Global Methodist Church with its returning of historical name, St Paul Methodist Church of Elkton.
Our church aims to ground all of our beliefs and practices in the authority of Scripture and the soverignty of Christ. Standing on this unshakable foundation, we are moving forward with confidence for the future.
